Dear Valued Client,
Thank you for entrusting Horizon Pest Control to address your Fabric Pest Infestation. To help ensure success and set clear expectations, please review the information below.
You May Still See Moths for a Little While
- It’s normal to see a few adult moths flying around for the first 2-4 weeks.
- These are moths that were already in the life cycle before treatment.
Eggs & Larvae Take Time To Break Down
- The treatment stops new larvae from developing, but recently laid eggs may still hatch in the coming weeks
- Some damage may still occur if larvae were already inside affected items.
- Don’t place items back into drawers/closets until applications have dried, and you have cleaned and inspected clothing for left over eggs or moths that may be hiding.
- Larvae in the pupa stage will not be effected until after they emerge and make contact with the application made to the affected areas.
Vacuuming Is Very Important
- Regular vacuuming will remove dead insects, eggs, and moth debris.
- Empty the vacuum bag or canister outside right after use.
You May Notice Odors
- A light chemical smell or “musty” odor may be present for a short time.
- This fades within a few hours to a couple of days depending on ventilation.
Damaged Items Will Not Be Repaired by Treatment
- The moths may have already caused holes or thinning in fabrics.
- Treatment aims to prevent future damage but does not reverse what’s already happened.
- Items in storage or in containers will not be effected by any applications, and moths can still be present after treatments in unaffected areas.
- The most common sources for fabric pests include natural fibers which can be found in areas like rugs, clothing, fur coats, furniture, wall coverings like wallpaper or tapestries.
- Failure to take the appropriate precautions outlined in the prep sheet may lead to additional services or service failure.
Follow-up May Be Needed
- Depending on the level of infestation, after your initial services, additional services may be required.
- Keeping clothes stored properly and dry-cleaned helps prevent reinfestation.
