Prepare Your Home for German Cockroach Treatment

Prepare Your Home for German Cockroach Treatment

Preparation Checklist

Your Home Has Been Inspected & German Cockroaches Have Been Found. To Ensure an Effective Treatment, The Following Steps Must Be Completed Prior To Service:

1) Empty & Prepare All Kitchen & Bathroom Areas

  • Remove all items from every kitchen and bathroom cupboard, drawer, shelf, and countertop. This includes china cabinets and shelves containing cookbooks.
  • Failure to empty every area may compromise the technician’s ability to treat successfully and may prolong the elimination process.
  • Place dishes, silverware, pots, and pans in another room, either inside plastic bags or covered with sheets.
  • Any food removed from cabinets must be stored in sealed containers or placed in the refrigerator.
  • Remove shelf paper (except Contact Paper) and clean all cupboards before treatment.
  • Remove all items from medicine cabinets and under-sink areas.
  • If pests have been seen in closets, remove all items from those areas as well.
  • Ensure stove tops and ovens are free of food, and all surfaces are cleaned.
  • Mop or vacuum the floors thoroughly.
  • Use an appropriate cleaning solvent to wipe down all surfaces where pests have been observed or where treatment will occur.

2) Remove Pets From the Premises

  • All pets must be removed from the home during treatment.
  • Cover aquariums and unplug air pumps.
  • Horizon Pest Control is not responsible for fish or pets during the treatment.

3) After Treatment

  • Allow all treated surfaces to fully dry before returning items to cabinets or shelves.
  • Do NOT clean surfaces after treatment, as this may remove materials applied by the technician and may render the treatment ineffective.

4) Do Not Self-Treat

  • Please refrain from applying your own pesticides. Self-treatment can:
  • Drive roaches deeper into walls
  • Extend the time needed to resolve the issue
  • Cause pests to move from one unit to another
