Dear Valued Client,
Thank you for entrusting Horizon Pest Control to address your Flea Infestation. To help ensure success and set clear expectations, please review the information below.
You May Still See Fleas for a Little While
- Fleas in the pupal (cocoon) stage can survive treatments.
- They may hatch for up to 2–3 weeks after service before coming into contact with application and dying off.
It May Take a Few Weeks to Fully Break the Cycle
- Flea life cycles can last 3–4 weeks.
- It’s normal to see minor activity before the infestation is completely gone.
Vacuuming Is Very Important
- Vacuum carpets, rugs, and furniture, pet beds daily for at least 2 weeks.
- This helps remove eggs and stimulates pupae to hatch, so they contact the treatment.
- The movement also helps trigger the fleas to emerge from the egg capsules in search of food.
- Empty the vacuum bag or canister outside after each use
Pets Must Be Treated Too
- Have all pets treated with veterinarian-approved flea products on the same day as service.
- Skipping pet treatment may allow fleas to survive and re-infest your home.
You May Notice Some Odors
- A light chemical smell may linger for a short time.
- Ventilate by opening windows and running fans until it fades.
- If pheromone traps are used, please be sure to leave them undisturbed.
Do Not Clean Treated Surfaces Right Away
- Avoid mopping or shampooing carpets for at least 10–14 days.
- Light vacuuming only (no steam cleaning) until after the treatment has worked.
Follow-up May Be Needed
- Severe infestations may require a second treatment in 4 weeks.
- It is also important to remain in the home as usual in order to encourage the pupae to hatch and become affected by the application.
- if occupants vacate the premises, they may wait months for a host to return.
Call Us if You Notice:
- Heavy flea activity after 4 weeks.
- Biting or itching continues despite pets being treated and precautions followed.
