Your Home Has Been Inspected & Bed Bugs Have Been Found. To Ensure an Effective Treatment, the Following Steps Must Be Completed Prior To Service:
Preparation Requirements
- CLEAR OUT ALL CLOSETS. Wash all clothing in hot, soapy water or dry clean. Once dry, tightly seal items in plastic bags and place them in the kitchen area.
- REMOVE ALL CURTAINS AND DRAPERIES. Wash in hot, soapy water or dry clean. Dry completely, place in sealed plastic bags, and store in the kitchen area.
- STRIP MATTRESSES AND BOX SPRINGS. Remove bed linens and any protective covers. Wash in hot, soapy water, dry thoroughly, seal in plastic bags, and place them in the kitchen area.
- EMPTY ALL DRESSER DRAWERS. Wash all clothing in hot, soapy water, dry, seal in plastic bags, and place them in the kitchen area.
- TRANSPORT LAUNDRY CAREFULLY. Clothing, bedding, and linens must be moved in sealed bags or containers to avoid spreading Bed Bugs to other rooms or units.
- MOVE FURNITURE AWAY FROM WALLS approximately 18–20 INCHES. Vacuum thoroughly behind and under furniture. Do not remove or discard furniture unless specifically instructed by a Horizon representative, as this can spread the infestation.
- VACUUM BED FRAMES AND ALL CREVICES to remove lint, debris, and potential hiding places.
- VACUUM ALL BASEBOARDS, MOLDINGS, PICTURE FRAMES, FLOORS, AND RUGS throughout the treatment area.
- AFTER VACUUMING, REMOVE THE VACUUM BAG, seal it in a plastic bag, and discard it IMMEDIATELY in an outdoor garbage receptacle.
- PROVIDE THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO TENANTS (IF APPLICABLE) at least 72 HOURS BEFORE SERVICE to ensure adequate preparation.
- The SAME LEVEL OF PREPARATION IS REQUIRED for the follow-up service, which will occur 2–3 WEEKS AFTER THE INITIAL TREATMENT.
