Dear Valued Client,
Thank you for entrusting Horizon Pest Control to address your Pantry Pest Infestation. To help ensure success and set clear expectations, please review the information below.
You May Still See Pests for a Little While
- Adult moths or beetles may still be flying or crawling for 2-4 weeks.
- These are leftovers from earlier life stages such as pupa hatchings, not new infestations.
Eggs & Larvae May Still Hatch
- The treatment seeks to stop active insects, but hidden eggs inside packaged food may still hatch.
- This is why food cleanup and storage are very important.
Damaged Food Should Be Identified & Discarded
- Older products which have been opened for a while should be discarded.
- Throw away any food that shows signs of infestation or were open and near infested items.
- New food items should be taken from paper or damaged packaging and placed in sealed containers.
- DO NOT place infested items back into pantry areas.
Cleaning and Food Storage Are Critical
- Wipe down cupboards, shelves, and cracks where food was stored.
- Store all dry food (flour, cereal, rice, pasta, spices, pet food) in sealed plastic or glass containers.
Vacuuming Helps Speed Control
- Vacuum cupboards, cracks, and pantry floors to remove food crumbs and insect eggs.
- Empty the vacuum bag or canister outside after each use.
You May Notice Some Odors
- A mild chemical smell may be present for a short time.
- Ventilate with fans or open windows until it clears.
- Pheromone traps may be used during treatment to monitor and to reduce activity. These traps should be left in place as they are strategically placed for effective control.
Follow-up May Be Needed
- In heavy infestations, a recheck or second treatment may be scheduled.
Call Us if You Notice:
- A large number of new insects more than 2–3 weeks after treatment.
- Continued food damage despite removing infested items and sealing food properly.
